
Disasters are inevitable in any business setting. Failure to adapt to these disasters can expose a business to the risk of closure. Priority action allows creative enterprises to turn these distastes into opportunities for success. These priority actions are tasked with ensuring the continuation of AJPS’s business processes in the event a disaster occurs. Notable accidents that could arise in AJPS include natural (floods, earthquakes, landslides, and so on), and humanmade (loss of data, legal charges against members of Board, executive leadership, loss of revenues, and so on). The priority actions will be covered by the recovery strategy that will be based on a disaster recovery scenario.
The disaster recovery scenario will be extreme weather conditions (earthquake or flooding) that can cause a loss of access to crucial company data needed for operations. Although the loss of access to data by AJPS is an assumption, the priority actions will address how to recover essential communication, vital data, and critical systems needed for operations. This scenario assumes that AJPS’s computer operations are in despair, and equipment cannot be salvaged, losing all vital telecommunication capabilities. The top leadership of AJPS will focus on initiating the disaster recovery plan. The priority actions in this scenario will be categorized as phase I, phase II, and phase III.
In step I, the priority will be moving company operations Emergency Operations Centre and a Disaster Recovery Backup Site. It implies that the most critical element that should be activated immediately after a disaster is finding a place to enable a backup plan. In the second phase, the priority actions will include recovering critical business functions, restorations of essential applications, and initiation of network connectivity. The objective here is to ensure all systems are improved and the network is activated so that business operations can commence again. The priority actions of the final phase involved returning access to data and using a different computer facility that ensures seamless services.
